Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 2 Pie crust or puff pastry sheets
  • 1 Onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 Egg (for egg wash)
  • Parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned; stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper. Cool slightly.
  2. Cut pie crust or puff pastry into rectangles or circles.
  3. Spoon beef filling onto each piece and add a mound of shredded cheese.
  4. Fold over, press edges with a fork to seal, and cut a small vent slit on top.
  5. Brush with egg wash and bake at 400°F for 20–25 minutes until golden and crisp.
  6. Let cool a few minutes so the cheesy filling settles.
  7. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
  • These hand pies can be frozen before baking; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from frozen.
