Description
Flaky pastry layers filled with sweet ricotta cream and chocolate chips, dusted with powdered sugar and pistachios.
Ingredients
- Puff pastry sheets (2, thawed)
- Ricotta cheese (1 ½ cups, drained)
- Mini chocolate chips (¾ cup)
- Powdered sugar (½ cup + extra for dusting)
- Vanilla extract (1 tsp)
- Orange zest (½ tsp, optional)
- Chopped pistachios (2 tbsp, for garnish)
- Egg wash (1 beaten egg + 1 tbsp water)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place puff pastry sheets on the sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake 15–18 minutes until golden. Cool completely.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, powdered sugar, vanilla, and orange zest until creamy. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Slice pastry sheets in half horizontally. Spread ricotta filling evenly over one half.
- Place the other pastry layer on top, pressing gently.
- Dust with powdered sugar and sprinkle pistachios over the top.
- Slice into neat squares and chill lightly before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use whole milk ricotta.
- Chill the filled squares for a firmer texture before serving.
- Feel free to substitute pistachios with other nuts if desired.
