Ingredients

  • Dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
  • Candied orange slices
  • Almond butter
  • Sliced almonds
  • Unsalted butter (softened)
  • Brown sugar
  • Egg
  • Vanilla extract
  • All-purpose flour
  • Cocoa powder
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Flaky sea salt (for topping)
  • Orange zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in egg and vanilla.
  3. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and orange zest until a thick dough forms. Fold in sliced almonds.
  4. Scoop dough into large rounds. Press a small well in the center, add a spoon of almond butter and a piece of candied orange, then seal with more dough.
  5. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are set but centers remain slightly soft. Cool completely.
  6. Melt dark chocolate and dip each cookie halfway or spoon over the tops. Sprinkle flaky sea salt and extra orange zest. Let set before slicing for that dramatic layered look.
