Description

A rich chocolate layer cake frosted to resemble a tree trunk, topped with a fondant sloth peacefully napping amid edible leaves.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 cup Milk
  • Chocolate ganache (for frosting)
  • Fondant (for sloth and leaves)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare two round cake pans.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then mix in eggs and vanilla.
  3. Add dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, baking powder) alternately with milk until smooth.
  4. Bake for 30–35 minutes, cool completely.
  5. Frost with chocolate ganache, using a spatula to create bark-like texture on the sides.
  6. Sculpt a sloth from fondant—shape the body, arms, and head, and add face details with edible paint or melted chocolate.
  7. Place the sloth on top, add fondant leaves, and chill before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the cake is completely cool before frosting to prevent melting.
  • Use high-quality cocoa powder for a richer flavor.
  • Experiment with different colors of fondant for leaves.
