Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box red velvet cake mix
- 1 box instant vanilla pudding mix
- 2 cups milk (for pudding)
- 1 tub whipped topping (Cool Whip)
- Green food coloring
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- Holiday sprinkles
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Bake red velvet cake in a 9×13 pan according to package directions; let cool 10 minutes.
- Poke deep holes across the warm cake using the handle of a wooden spoon.
- Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake so it seeps into the holes.
- Whisk pudding mix with cold milk until slightly thickened; divide in half. Tint one half green.
- Spread the plain pudding layer first over the cake, then add the green layer on top. Chill 1 hour.
- Top with whipped topping and decorate generously with holiday sprinkles.
- Chill at least another hour before slicing for clean, colorful layers.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the cake mix.
- Make sure to poke the holes deep enough for the condensed milk to seep in.
- Chilling the cake is essential for the best texture and flavor.
