Description

Cozy Greek Beef Giouvetsi Skillet is a must-try recipe featuring tender braised beef and orzo simmered in a rich tomato-herb sauce for the ultimate comfort meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs Beef chuck (cut into chunks)
  • 1 cup Orzo pasta
  • 1 can (28 oz) Crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 Onion (diced)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp Fresh rosemary (chopped)
  • 1 pinch Cinnamon
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Feta cheese (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven and sear beef chunks until deeply browned; remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, sauté onion and garlic until softened. Stir in tomato paste and cook until slightly caramelized.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes, beef broth, oregano, rosemary, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Return beef to the pot.
  5. Cover and braise in the oven for 60 minutes until beef is tender.
  6. Stir in orzo, ensuring it’s submerged in liquid. Bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes until orzo is tender and sauce thickens.
  7. Let rest for 5–10 minutes to thicken further. Garnish with fresh herbs and crumbled feta before serving.
