- 2 lbs Beef chuck (cut into chunks)
- 1 cup Orzo pasta
- 1 can (28 oz) Crushed tomatoes
- 2 cups Beef broth
- 1 Onion (diced)
- 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp Tomato paste
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 tsp Dried oregano
- 1 tbsp Fresh rosemary (chopped)
- 1 pinch Cinnamon
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- Feta cheese (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven and sear beef chunks until deeply browned; remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, sauté onion and garlic until softened. Stir in tomato paste and cook until slightly caramelized.
- Add crushed tomatoes, beef broth, oregano, rosemary, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Return beef to the pot.
- Cover and braise in the oven for 60 minutes until beef is tender.
- Stir in orzo, ensuring it’s submerged in liquid. Bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes until orzo is tender and sauce thickens.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes to thicken further. Garnish with fresh herbs and crumbled feta before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use homemade beef broth.
- Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini for extra nutrition.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
