Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Fresh assorted fruits (berries, peaches, mango, apple)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine flour, butter, sugar, and salt until crumbly, press into tart pan, and bake for 15–18 minutes until golden.
  3. Heat milk in a saucepan until warm.
  4. In another bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch until smooth.
  5. Gradually pour hot milk into the yolk mixture, whisking constantly.
  6. Return to the pan and cook until thickened.
  7. Stir in butter and vanilla extract, then cool slightly before spreading into the cooled tart shell.
  8. Chill for 30 minutes until set.
  9. Arrange assorted sliced fruits beautifully over the custard.
  10. Optionally, brush with a light fruit glaze and top with candles for celebration.
