Ingredients
- Molasses (½ cup)
- Unsalted butter (½ cup, browned and divided)
- Cream cheese (4 oz, softened)
- Brown sugar (½ cup)
- All-purpose flour (1½ cups)
- Baking soda (1 tsp)

- Cinnamon (1 tsp)
- Cloves (¼ tsp)
- Salt (¼ tsp)
- Egg (1 large)
- Milk (½ cup)
- Powdered sugar (1½ cups, for frosting)
- Vanilla extract (1 tsp)
Instructions
- Brown the butter: Melt butter over medium heat until golden and nutty; cool slightly.
- Mix wet ingredients: Whisk together molasses, brown sugar, egg, milk, and half of the browned butter.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- Blend and bake: Combine wet and dry mixtures; pour into a greased loaf pan and bake 45–50 minutes. Cool completely.
- Make frosting: Beat cream cheese with remaining brown butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and fluffy.
- Frost generously: Spread thick frosting over cooled loaf, creating soft swirls on top.
- Slice and enjoy: Serve at room temperature with a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.
