A rich, aromatic Greek-style meat sauce with warm spices, spooned generously over pasta for ultimate comfort.

- 1 lb Lean ground beef
- 12 oz Bucatini (or spaghetti)
- 1 can Canned tomatoes
- 1/2 cup Red wine
- 2 tbsp Extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 Red onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 Carrot, finely chopped
- 1 Celery stalk, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Tomato paste
- 2 Bay leaves
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
- Salt & freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a deep pan; sauté finely chopped onion, carrot, and celery until soft.
- Add garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
- Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
- Stir in tomato paste and cinnamon; cook until aromatic.
- Deglaze with red wine and simmer until slightly reduced.
- Add tomatoes, bay leaves, and cinnamon stick; simmer gently until thick and rich.
- Toss with cooked pasta and finish with grated Parmesan.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with lentils or mushrooms.
- Serve with a side salad for a complete meal.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
