Description

A rich, aromatic Greek-style meat sauce with warm spices, spooned generously over pasta for ultimate comfort.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Lean ground beef
  • 12 oz Bucatini (or spaghetti)
  • 1 can Canned tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup Red wine
  • 2 tbsp Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 Red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 Carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 Celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • Salt & freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a deep pan; sauté finely chopped onion, carrot, and celery until soft.
  2. Add garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato paste and cinnamon; cook until aromatic.
  5. Deglaze with red wine and simmer until slightly reduced.
  6. Add tomatoes, bay leaves, and cinnamon stick; simmer gently until thick and rich.
  7. Toss with cooked pasta and finish with grated Parmesan.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with lentils or mushrooms.
  • Serve with a side salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
