Description

Shiny, jet-black candy apples with a dramatic glossy finish — the perfect blend of crisp and sweet for spooky elegance.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 fresh apples (washed and dried)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp black gel food coloring
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Wooden sticks for apples
  • Edible glitter (optional for sparkle)

Instructions

  1. Insert wooden sticks into each apple and set aside on parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat; stir until sugar dissolves.
  3. Increase heat to high and cook until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat, add black food coloring and vanilla extract, then swirl gently.
  5. Dip each apple into the glossy syrup, turning to coat evenly.
  6. Place on parchment to set — sprinkle with edible glitter before the coating hardens for shimmer.
  7. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure apples are completely dry for better coating adherence.
  • Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature measurement.
  • Edible glitter can enhance the spooky effect.
