Ingredients
- Gouda cheese (sliced)
- Sliced mushrooms
- Caramelized onions
- Thick-cut bread
- Butter

Instructions
- Sauté mushrooms in olive oil until browned; season with salt, pepper, and thyme.
- Add caramelized onions or sauté sliced onions until soft and golden; combine with mushrooms.
- Butter one side of each bread slice and place buttered side down in a skillet.
- Layer: Gouda → mushroom-onion mixture → more Gouda → top bread slice.
- Cook on medium heat until bread is golden and cheese starts to melt; flip carefully.
- Press gently and continue cooking until fully melty.
- Slice and serve warm with extra herbs if desired.
