- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp red food coloring
- Pinch of salt
- ½ cup mini chocolate chips (optional mix-in or garnish)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, whisk milk, sugar, and cocoa powder over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat, stir in heavy cream, vanilla, food coloring, and salt.
- Chill the mixture in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
- Pour into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- In the last minute, add mini chocolate chips if desired.
- Transfer to a container and freeze for 4 hours or until firm.
- Scoop and serve topped with a few extra chocolate chips for a finishing touch.
