Description

Creamy, rich, and beautifully red — this red velvet ice cream delivers a classic cocoa flavor with a silky texture and chocolate chip crunch.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips (optional mix-in or garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, whisk milk, sugar, and cocoa powder over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
  2. Remove from heat, stir in heavy cream, vanilla, food coloring, and salt.
  3. Chill the mixture in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
  4. Pour into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  5. In the last minute, add mini chocolate chips if desired.
  6. Transfer to a container and freeze for 4 hours or until firm.
  7. Scoop and serve topped with a few extra chocolate chips for a finishing touch.
