Description

Tender, buttery sugar cookies topped with smooth festive icing and colorful sprinkles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 23 tbsp milk (as needed)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Royal icing or simple sugar icing (white + green)
  • Red & green sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy; beat in egg and vanilla.
  2. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and baking soda; add to wet mixture.
  3. Add 1–2 tbsp milk if dough seems dry; chill 20–30 minutes for clean cut-outs.
  4. Roll to ¼ inch thickness; cut star and tree shapes.
  5. Bake at 175°C / 350°F for 8–10 minutes until edges are pale golden. Cool completely.
  6. Prepare icing (white + green).
  7. Pipe outlines, flood the cookies, then add sprinkles in patterns like the image. Let dry before serving.
