Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin or ribeye, cubed
  • Berbere spice blend
  • Jalapeño or green chili peppers
  • Red onion
  • Garlic, minced
  • Ginger, grated
  • Clarified butter or ghee
  • Olive oil
  • Paprika
  • Black pepper
  • Salt
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley (garnish)
  • Optional: splash of beef stock or water

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee and olive oil in a hot skillet until shimmering.
  2. Add beef cubes and sear quickly until browned on all sides; remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté red onion, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
  4. Stir in berbere, paprika, salt, and pepper; toast briefly.
  5. Return beef to the pan along with sliced chilies.
  6. Toss and cook 3–5 minutes until beef is tender and coated in sauce.
  7. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve hot with injera or rice.
