Description

Moist chocolate cake layered with whipped cream, creamy custard, and a rich berry compote topping.


Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups All-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ cups Sugar (granulated)
  • 1 cup Sugar (powdered)
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • ½ cup Butter or oil
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Fresh or frozen mixed berries
  • Cream cheese or custard base
  • Fresh strawberries (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two round cake pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs, sugar, butter (or oil), and vanilla. Combine with dry mixture. Bake for 25–30 minutes.
  4. Make berry compote: cook berries with sugar until thickened, then cool.
  5. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until fluffy. Prepare custard or cream cheese filling.
  6. Assemble cake: bottom layer with whipped cream, middle with custard, then top with berry compote.
  7. Garnish with fresh strawberries and chill before slicing.
