Description

Flaky spiraled puff pastry trees filled with pizza sauce and mozzarella, topped with festive pepper stars.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella
  • Red or yellow bell peppers (for stars)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Toothpicks or skewers
  • Pinch of dried Italian herbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C / 375°F.
  2. Slice puff pastry into long, thin strips (about 1–1.5 cm wide).
  3. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over each strip; sprinkle mozzarella and herbs.
  4. Twist strips into spirals, then wrap upward to form mini “tree” shapes.
  5. Secure each tree with a toothpick or skewer through the center.
  6. Brush lightly with egg wash and bake 15–20 minutes until puffed and golden.
  7. Cut small bell pepper stars using a mini cutter; attach to the top of each tree while warm.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, ensure the pizza sauce is meat-free.
  • Experiment with different fillings like pesto or cheese blends.
