Description

A cozy, savory stew of tender cabbage and spiced ground meat simmered in a rich tomato broth.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef or lamb
  • 1 head Green cabbage, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 4 cups Beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 Red onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp Ground coriander
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Sweet paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Red pepper flakes
  • Salt & black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat; sauté chopped red onion until soft.
  2. Add ground beef or lamb and cook until browned, breaking it up well.
  3. Stir in tomato paste, paprika, cumin, coriander, and red pepper flakes until fragrant.
  4. Add chopped cabbage and toss to coat with the spiced meat mixture.
  5. Pour in beef broth, season with salt and pepper, and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Cover and cook 40–45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender and saucy.
  7. Adjust seasoning and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute ground meat with lentils or mushrooms.
